September 2009 Camp Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order by the commander. The membership and financial reports were given. There was a general discussion on the camp float, concerning the repairs that it needed and the theme and decoration for this years Forest Festival parade. Due to the time factor it was decided to just install lights at this time and do the other repairs later. The theme will be those left at "The Home Front" during the war. The commander will have an appropriate banner made up, for the float. The camp voted to handout beads with SCV coins attached and small flags, during the parade.
We will be having our living history camp and a recruiting table at the cracker house again this year. We will be camping out Friday night as this year there will be no school children coming for the field day trip on Friday. We also will try and have 3x5 flags and other items for sale at the festival.
The commander reminded everyone that elections will be in January so be thinking of nominations for the various camp positions.
All members who have not paid their dues are asked to get them to the commander, unpaid dues will be delinquent after October 31st. after that members must pay an extra $5 reinstatement fee.
The Brigade change that was discussed in previous meetings is final. We are now a part of the 3rd Brigade of the Florida Division.
All members are asked to consider putting their name on the volunteer monument mowing sheet( summer months) at the October meeting.
Compatriot Wharf will be putting together a recruiting day event at the monument site after the Festival event is over.
The camp discussed having a camp family get together meeting, maybe the first week in December at a local restaurant, members are asked to try and be at the October meeting to help with ideas on this.
A new flag is being ordered to replace the one on Hwy. 27.
The commander advised he is having a new camp flag made. It will be made of weather proof material.
With no further business the meeting was adjourned with prayer by Chaplin Taylor.
